Helps entrepreneurial mamas connect and support each other

Many women have big aspirations when it comes to their careers. Some even dream of one day starting a business. But often, the fear of balancing being a mother with the potential rigors and responsibilities of entrepreneurship nips those thoughts in the bud. Not enough time in the day, taking care of the kids and added stress are just some of the concerns women may have.

For all of the women out there who continue to dream big but feel that they lack the support system needed to have it all, heymama gives them just that. It’s a worldwide community full of like-minded mamas, as well as mentors and resources ready to be tapped into, that gives these women a much better chance to make their dreams of having both a family and a business become a reality.

These stories that we were telling were so rich

“We started small, posting amazing mamas with their kids on Instagram and telling their stories,” founder and chief mama Katya Libin said. “Then something clicked and it took off. We got up to 10,000 followers within a month and it just kept growing. These stories that we were telling were so rich and we realized that we needed a better environment to tell them. So we built an online network and started inviting these women in. We would interview them, then figure out ways to support their businesses and matchmake them together. Now, we’ve grown to the point where we provide discounted services on things like legal consultation, graphic design, accounting, etc. This saves mamas a lot of money when starting out.”

…we just weren’t meeting the type of woman that we felt we’d be friends with if we didn’t have kids

“We started heymama out of a personal need to have more women in our lives that we were really going to get along with. When we met, my co-founder Amri and I both had little girls that were three months old and we literally didn’t have another mom friend in sight. We’d go to different mommy groups, but we just weren’t meeting the type of woman that we felt we’d be friends with if we didn’t have kids. But we met each other and it was incredible. She pushed me, she inspired me, she motivated me, and we started to talk about why it wasn’t easier to meet other women like that. We knew that they were out there but they just weren’t at the playgrounds, and that’s because they were busy building their businesses.”

This is definitely a moment right now for entrepreneurial mothers

“This is my life. I live and breathe it every day but it’s about more than just me. This is definitely a moment right now for entrepreneurial mothers, and the stats show how many millennial mothers are starting their own businesses, whether it’s through blogging, design, photography or building multimillion-dollar businesses of some kind. We started to see that this mission spoke to so many women because inside of all of them was the same drive. They didn’t want to apologize for their dreams and they didn’t want to put it to the side once they had kids. In fact, it was just getting stronger and heymama tapped into that. All of the reasons that mamas want to be a part of this motivates me because I want them to feel like there is a tribe of women out there supporting them.”

“I feel like everyone has something that they’re naturally good at, but it’s sometimes harder to find for people like me. I’m not a skilled artisan, I don’t make things, I don’t have an actual skill set that can carry me around the world. I’m good with people, I’m good with ideas and connecting them, that’s my passion and I always knew that, but I never thought I could make it into a job. So for me, heymama is everything that I love.”

It’s like a light at the end of the tunnel for me

And when doing what you love is disrupted by oncoming cold or flu symptoms, how does someone so driven and so busy, like Katya, handle that? “When I know I need to power through a sick day, I’ll either take Theraflu® Hot Liquid the night before, or the daytime one in the morning. I definitely feel like I have that trust with Theraflu®, as I’ve used it several times over the years and I really feel it when it’s done something. It’s like a light at the end of the tunnel for me. I have Theraflu® in my house and I usually use it when I have a fever, sinus congestion or my body is aching. The hot tea helps me sweat stuff out and gets me back on track.”

My hope is that the next generation of mamas also feel like they can do it too

While Theraflu® helps Katya power through a sick day, how does she answer the question: What powers you? “I’m powered by the desire to create a life that I’m proud of. My hope is that the next generation of mamas also feel like they can do it too. I hear from women all the time who aren’t mothers that tell me that we give them inspiration that they can have it all. My daughter also pushes me to do what I do because I want her to see that you can start something from nothing and if you work hard enough, you can be successful at it.”

Theraflu® proudly celebrates Katya and her success in supporting the lives of mamas all around the world. And when they need some support in battling cold and flu symptoms, Theraflu® is there for them, too, with powerful relief they can count on.
